I got the Mk III Boarding Marine from eBay recently, as I mentioned. He arrived a few days ago, and I've been having a great time working on him, it really is one gorgeous mini. I didn't like the helmet, but I liked the plume, so I shaved a bit off the top of a Mk V helmet, and stuck it on. I also went for the combi-melta hand rather than the hammer, and removed his left hand. I gave him the chainsword from the assault marine sergeant sprue, and I like how everything came out. I also stuck an extra pouch and knife on his belt, as well as a short sword. He's quite heavily armed, then, and I'm am quite pleased. The only thing that bothered me with this mini was the armour plating hanging between his legs, it was very thin and I had to be really careful not to break it. Other than that, I think this is the new leader for my sternguard, so say hi to Sternguard Sergeant Gatten!
He looks really bad ass. Didn't realize he came with those options - that's a sweet combi-melta, love the drum clip.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there's a thunder hammer option or the combi-melta. For the left hand there's only really a stormshield, which is a really nice one, but I've never liked stormshields very much.
